About MeMy name is Anthony Golden, and I am excited to be your instructor for this course. I bring with me 26 years of experience in the Automotive Service industry; I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Career Technical Education from Athens State University. My journey in this field began at a very young age, driven by a fascination with how things work. This curiosity led me to dismantle my toys as a child—though reassembling them correctly took a bit longer!
My formal education in Automotive Service started in the 10th grade at Marshall Technical School in Alabama, where I initially struggled but soon found my footing. By immersing myself in automotive literature and hands-on practice, I excelled in my studies and won the SKILLS USA District Contest, earning a scholarship to Gadsden State Community College. There, I envisioned becoming an Automotive Instructor, a dream that has now become my reality. Professionally, I began as an entry-level technician at Gilbert and Baker Ford, progressing to become a Ford Senior Master Technician in 2001. Throughout my career, I have always enjoyed mentoring new technicians, sharing my knowledge, and watching them grow into skilled professionals. This passion for teaching led me to become a Shop Foreman at Woody Anderson Ford, where I supervised and trained apprentice technicians. In August 2020, I started as an Adjunct Automotive Instructor at Calhoun Community College, transitioning to a full-time role in January 2022. I currently teach dual enrollment high school students at Madison County Career Tech School and night classes at Calhoun Community College on the Decatur campus. Teaching has taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and effective communication, as high school and college students have different learning needs and paces. On a more personal note, my Wife Heather and I are raising two wonderful children. Heather is my Soul Mate and my support system. Since we met in March of 2021 she has tolerated me through all my professional and personal struggles all the while standing by me while attaining my bachelor's degree. She has motivated me and pushed me to continue my goal of getting my Master's Degree in Career Technical Education and ultimately a Doctorate in Education. Without her, I am hopeless. Our Daughter Charlee turned 2 years old on November 18th. Our Son Ricky is 10 we love to run our RC cars together and he is an aspiring YouTuber! I along with my Wife and kids love car shows, outdoor activities, and college football. It makes for a fun season being an Alabama fan while my wife is an avid Florida Gator! Family time is important, never forget that! No matter what you learn from me never forget where you come from. At some point, you will need help from close friends and family to get through this life. My goal as your instructor is not only to impart technical skills but also to share life lessons from my career. I believe in making a positive impact on your lives, helping you avoid the mistakes I made, and guiding you toward becoming successful Automotive Service Professionals. I look forward to working with each of you and helping you achieve your goals in this exciting field. |
